Robin N. Fiore, PhD

Special Ethics Initiatives

Dr. Robin Fiore joined the University of Miami Ethics Programs in 2010 and went on voluntary status in 2015. Formerly, she was Adelaide R. Snyder Professor of Ethics and Associate Professor of Philosophy at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida. While at FAU, she served as Senior Assistant Vice President for Research Ethics (2006-2008) and as Special Assistant to the Dean of Arts and Letters for Ethics Initiatives (2004-2008) and as Director of FAU’s Ethics, Law & Society Certificate Program and the Environmental Studies Graduate Certificate Program.

Dr. Fiore is a publicly engaged teacher, scholar and consultant for government as well as area institutional ethics committees. She specializes in biomedical ethics, research ethics and professional and organizational ethics.  Dr. Fiore is a member of the Board of the Florida Bioethics Network—a statewide organization that addresses ethico-legal issues arising in health care and research in Florida—and was a member of the Board of Advisors of the Women’s Bioethics Project.  She is currently Visiting Scholar at the Center for Women Policy Studies in Washington DC. 

Dr. Fiore has been a Palm Beach County resident of Delray Beach since 1998 and has been appointed to the inaugural Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics, established to review, interpret, render advisory opinions on and enforce the Palm Beach County Code of Ethics. 

Dr. Fiore earned Doctoral and Masters Degrees in Philosophy from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and also studied religion and ethics at Drew University Graduate and Theological School, Madison, New Jersey. In 1997/1998, Dr. Fiore was Frances Elvidge Post-Doctoral Fellow in Ethics at the Ethics Center, University of South Florida.

Previously, as a senior consultant and principal of an international actuarial and employee benefits consulting firm, she analyzed qualified benefit plans, conducted corporate objective setting, team-building and community relations workshops, and designed and conducted employee focus groups for Fortune 1000 companies, Taft-Hartley plans and non-profit organizations.
