Committed to establishing global standards and best practices to ensure that stem cell science and regenerative technologies progress in scientifically robust and ethically sound ways.

The Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy’s Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine program examines the ethical and governance challenges that arise as stem cell science and regenerative technologies advance. The program focuses on issues such as consent and provenance, oversight of stem cell banks and registries, the use of organoids and embryo models, and the risks of unproven interventions.

Through comparative and anticipatory scholarship, and in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute, the program contributes to international standards and best practices that support responsible research, ethical stewardship of biological materials, and trustworthy clinical translation. Its work helps ensure that regenerative medicine evolves in ways that are scientifically rigorous, ethically grounded, and responsive to societal values.
