Some colleges/schools and departments at UM require only the CITI on-line course for RCR training; others require a classroom-based “live” RCR course in addition to the CITI on-line course, particularly for persons with NIH funding. Contact your college/school or department for more information about its current requirements.
(1) REGISTERING FOR A CITI ON-LINE RCR COURSE
For CITI Program RCR courses, UM affiliates should use SINGLE SIGN ON (SSO) to access CITI Program via CaneID. (Click on the SSO link for instructions and the login pathway.) If you do not have a CaneID, login using CITI Program credentials at http://www.citiprogram.org instead.
- If an RCR course does not already appear in your course list, click “Add or Update courses or learner groups.” Select RCR as one of the courses you wish to take (first set of registration questions).
- Complete the assigned RCR course modules as your schedule permits. You can start and stop at any time, completing modules as your schedule allows.

(2) REGISTERING FOR A CLASSROOM-BASED RCR COURSE
You can self-register for a “live” RCR classes, or make a request through your college, school or department to request that you be included in an upcoming RCR session. See the list of upcoming classes.
- Note that completion of a CITI RCR course is generally required to attend a live course.
