Rosario Isasi is Director of the Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy at the University of Miami and Associate Professor in the John T. Macdonald Department of Human Genetics at the Miller School of Medicine. She is affiliated with the John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics and the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute and serves as Adjunct Professor at the UM School of Law.
An internationally recognized scholar, Professor Isasi’s research focuses on the ethical, legal, and policy dimensions of emerging biotechnologies, including precision medicine, genomics, regenerative medicine, and artificial intelligence.
Her global contributions have been widely recognized. She was named a President’s International Fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2017–2019) for her comparative work on ethics and governance in stem cell and regenerative medicine and, in 2025, received the Public Service Award from the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR), honoring her achievements and leadership in advancing responsible stem cell research worldwide.
Professor Isasi holds prominent leadership roles across international and national initiatives. She serves as Chair of the ISSCR Ethics Committee, Ethics Advisor to the European Commission’s Human Pluripotent Stem Cell Registry, Co-Chair of the American Society of Human Genetics’ Professional Practice & Social Implications (PPSI) Committee, and Chair of both the Partnered Research Board (PRAB) and of the All of Us Research Program.
